Instead of waxed canvas, Rugged Twill was chosen because of its exceptional abrasion resistance. This industrial-strength fabric comes from the oldest and most traditional fulling mills in the UK and is lightly waxed to keep valuable items dry and protected from the natural elements. The premium Italian cowhide for The handles are designed for horse harness and are therefore very durable and long-lasting. It reaches under the bag so that you can carry even the heaviest loads. It has been slowly tanned over several weeks in natural plant-based solutions that transform high-quality cowhides into tough, supple and lustrous leather that will mold to the shape of your hand and shoulder for decades to come. The rust-proof, solid zipper is made from solid brass and reinforced with our saddle-strength leather. The sand-cast brass hardware is stamped specifically for Filson.

This duffel bag has been designed with particular attention to detail, even those that are not obvious, such as the tin cloth binding on the inner seams, which prevents fraying and wear. There is a pocket in each of the two side panels for storing smaller items. The shoulder strap made of premium Italian cowhide can be removed to carry the bag in your hand.
